Dorothy McDougall

Dorothy D. McDougall was born April 5, 1941 in Ogema, MN to Alfred and Bessie (Wilcox) Power Powers. She spent her early years in Ogema, attending rural Ogema schools. She moved with her family to Detroit Lakes where she graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1959. Following graduation, she worked as a waitress for Karn's Café. Dorothy was united in marriage to Jack McDougall, June 11, 1961 in Detroit Lakes. They made their home in California and Minneapolis, MN prior to returning to Detroit Lakes in 1978. Dorothy worked for Big Daddy's Tesoro, the Wefest, did personal care and housekeeping and as a clerk at the Sears store prior to her retirement. Jack died in 2006. She enjoyed taking care of others, crocheting, knitting, gardening, feeding the birds, reading, and her Sunday morning family breakfasts. Survivors include three children: Michael of Detroit Lakes, Lori (Jay) Wolfe of Hampstead, NC, Evangeline McDougall of San Diego, CA, three grandchildren: Carrie, John and Briana and a sister: Darlene Nordlund of Detroit Lakes. In addition to her husband, Jack, Dorothy was preceded in death by a daughter, Ramona and a brother Don.
