Doug was born on February 10th, 1959, the son of Felix and Theresa Demski of Detroit, Michigan. He graduated from Mott High School in Warren, MI and answered his calling to serve in the United States Air Force shortly thereafter. He remained a dedicated serviceman for 10 years, mainly as a Structural Specialist doing construction for the Air Force.
From a young age, Doug was always mechanically inclined, tinkering, fixing, and rebuilding engines with diligence and patience. After his time in the service, Doug decided to enter the world of truck driving; an endeavor that led him to meet and marry the love of his life, Maria (Turnham) Demski.
They continued their lives together over-the-road and cross-country, picking up and delivering goods around the nation, having experienced new challenges, joys, and making memories while traveling the U.S.
After 2 years of trucking together, they decided to come off the open road and settle down. For the next several years, Doug’s career became strictly mechanical, utilizing his original and skillful talent. Doug continued to work as a mechanic until his retirement.
Doug is survived by his wife, Maria; son, Dakotah; daughters, Corrina and Sheyenne; his brother, Bruce; grandchildren, Evan, Eric, and Gunnar; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends who are as good as family.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Felix and Theresa Demski; his brother, Phil; and his sister, Nancy.
A memorial service for Doug will be conducted at David Donehower Funeral Home on Friday, January 24th, beginning at 11am, with a time of fellowship to follow in the funeral home reception center.
