Douglas Sandford

Douglas Alan Sandford, 68, Rochert, MN, died Friday, January 29 at his residence. Funeral Services for Doug will be held Saturday, February 6 at 11AM at Berean Baptist Church, Detroit Lakes. Officiating will be Pastor Tim Riley. Visitation will be one hour prior to services.

Douglas was born November 30, 1947 in Anchorage Alaska, the son of Thomas Neil and Margaret Ruth (Gilley) Sandford. He was raised in Talkeetna Alaska, Penacook New Hampshire and Pueblo Colorado before settling in Rochert, Minnesota in 1962. He graduated from Detroit Lakes High School. Following high school he served in the army and was stationed in Korea for one year. Douglas was the longtime owner of a painting and handyman business in Rochert. He leaves many cherished neighbors in Rochert and many friends in the greater Detroit Lakes area including esteemed friend, Richard Duffney. He found fellowship and love in Christ with the Detroit Lakes Berean Baptist Church led by Pastor Tim Riley. Donations in his memory may be made to the Berean Baptist Church. Doug is survived by one brother: Thomas Carl (Edith) Sandford along with two nieces: Veronique Sandford and Lorraine (Robert) Wheeler and one grand-nephew Alexander Wheeler. He is preceded in death by his brother Gerald Eugene, his father Thomas Neil and mother Margaret Ruth.
