Duane Leroy Iverson, age 73, of Detroit Lakes, MN went to be with the Lord on December 28, 2014 at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 2, 2015 at the Lakes Area Vineyard Church in Detroit Lakes, Pastor Janice Ornquist officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 1, at David-Donehower Funeral Home, in Detroit Lakes, with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. The visitation will continue one hour prior to the funeral service at the church. The burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery.
Duane was born on November 13, 1941 to Alvin and Clarice (Morstad) Iverson in Park River, ND. He grew up on the family farm outside of Lankin, ND and graduated in 1959 from Walsh County Agricultural School in Park River. He attended Interstate Business College in Fargo. He opened his own carpet installation company and later worked for Kallod Carpet in Fargo. In 1966 Duane went to work for McKee Enterprises as their warehouse manager. In 1968 he became a sales rep traveling western Iowa. He returned to Fargo, in 1972, traveling eastern North Dakota and western Minnesota for McKee's and continued to do so until his retirement in 2003. He regularly received awards for top achievement in sales during his 37-year career. Duane was united in marriage to Ilene Guttromson on August 31, 1963 and to that union had two children, Sara and Joel. On August 17, 1991 Duane was united in marriage to Claryce (Davis) Iverson.
Following his retirement he enjoyed traveling with Claryce, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchild, mowing the lawn with his Kubota tractor, planting and tending to his trees, attending the steam threshers' reunion in Rollag, and fishing. He also enjoyed serving the Lord through various outreach ministries at the Vineyard Church. Duane was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Clarice. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Claryce; children, Sara (Dan) Hager of Fargo, and Joel (Kim) Iverson of Milan, MI; stepchildren, Larry (Lana) Davis of Pelican Rapids, MN, Lori (Todd) Salmon of Fargo, and Jason Davis of Fargo; grandchildren, Hannah, Lia, Elise, Drew, Alexa, Kara, Zach, Hunter, Anna, Caleb, and Jack; great-grandchild, Hayden; brother, Eugene (Bonnie) Iverson of Minot, ND; niece, Kari; and nephews, Dan and Ryan.
