They then moved to Idaho Falls, Idaho for a short time and then back to the Detroit Lakes area and was employed by Herzog Roofing until retiring. He enjoyed his retirement years hunting, fishing, 4-wheeling, traveling, riding motorcycle, gardening and yard work. He joined a wood turning lathe club and spent many hours in his woodworking shop. He served as elder at his church, volunteered with the Detroit Lakes Jail Ministry and enjoyed the Thursday morning men's bible study.
