DuWayne Larry Kolnes was born September 12, 1941 in Ada, MN to Lawrence and Eleanor (Dyrdahl) Kolnes. He was raised and educated in Hendrum, MN. DuWayne married Patricia Kipples in Moorhead, MN on September 23, 1961. During his early twenties and into his thirties, DuWayne worked for DS Beverage and managed Empire Liquor in Fargo. DuWayne and Patricia later divorced. On April 6, 1985, DuWayne was united in marriage to Corinne Fletcher in Fargo, ND. They made their home on Lake Sally in Detroit Lakes and in 1987 purchased Big Pine Resort near Perham, MN. After being in the resort business for a few years they purchased Silvermoon Restaurant in Perham. DuWayne also kept busy driving truck to different parts of the country, hauling grain with his brother Ronald. DuWayne enjoyed the simple things in life, he loved to fish, watch the Minnesota Vikings, Nascar, swing dancing, playing cards and spending time with his family as much as possible.
Life will seem empty without DuWayne but he will forever be remembered by his wife Corinne of Detroit Lakes, his children: Cassie (Tim) Lien of Barnesville, MN, Mary (Frank) Kara of Barnesville, MN, Terri (Calvin) Cooley of Fergus Falls, MN and Jeff (Jackie) Zander of Moorhead, MN. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren along with one brother Dennis (Harriett) Kolnes of Hendrum, MN.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers: Richard and Ronald.
