Edith Lindberg

December 7, 1943 — July 11, 2021

Detroit Lakes

Edith Dianne (Seehafer) Lindberg age 77, born in Rugby, North Dakota, passed away on July 11, 2021 at Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. Edith was born December 7, 1943 to William & Viola Seehafer. Edith grew up on a dairy farm in Drake, ND. She was the youngest of six children and would roller skate in the barn between the gutters while her dad and brothers were milking. She attended a one room country school with no running water, an outhouse and the students needing to carry in coal for heat. The teacher lived with them on the farm for part of her school years. She graduated from Drake High school in 1961. She loved to ride horses, hated snakes, and was competitive with her brothers shooting cans with her rifle. Edith loved to help her mother can pickles, carrots, onions & tomatoes, having spent the summer shooting gophers to protect the garden. She met Charles Lindberg at Dakota Business school in Fargo, ND. Her first job was as a secretary at a church and soon after Charles & Edith were married on February 2, 1963 at St. Anthony of Padua, Fargo, ND. They were blessed to celebrate 52 years of marriage prior to Charles passing away. Edith was a caregiver all her life for her children, grandchildren and their dogs. She sewed many outfits for her children over the years. She played third base on the False Alarm softball team in DL when her kids were little, and she bowled in a league for many years. She was fortunate to travel with Charles to Italy, France, Ireland, Mexico, and many U.S. states. Edith loved to watch her kids’ and grandkids’ games & events. She also attended Viking and Gopher games, high school basketball tournaments, the college baseball world series and the final four basketball tournaments. Being a caretaker, nurse, driver, disciplinarian, seamstress, cook and baker, she stayed busy doing what she loved, and she LOVED well!!

Edith is survived by her children Dianne Lindberg, Champlin, MN, Nancy (Kent) Utke, Park Rapids, MN, Christopher (Sandy) Lindberg, Detroit Lakes, MN, Michael (Beth) Lindberg, Lake Elmo, MN, Charles T. (Erin) Lindberg, Detroit Lakes, MN, her brother Lyle Seehafer, China, MI, grandchildren Lexi Thompson, Ashley Wold, Emily Lindberg, Jacob Lindberg, Hunter Utke, Mathew Lindberg, James Utke, Jenna Lindberg, Paige Lindberg, Griffin Lindberg, & Hudson Lindberg, great grandchildren Bryson Lindberg and Breccan Wold.
