Edward G. Schwartz, 83, Detroit Lakes, MN, died Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at Essentia Health in Fargo.
Funeral Services for Edward will be held Tuesday, December 5 at 10AM in David Donehower Funeral Home of Detroit Lakes. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services.
Edward George Schwartz was born October 24, 1934 in Weyburn, Saskatchewan to George and Elsie (Crooks) Schwartz. He graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1952 and was drafted into the United States Army in 1953. After serving his country during the Korean Conflict, Edward completed his degree at NDSU receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. He furthered his education at the University of South Dakota. While in South Dakota he joined the National Guard and again served his country during Operation Desert Storm. During his working career Edward was employed with the Bureau of Land Reclamation in South Dakota, the company Daktronics and also the University of South Dakota. Edward retired in 1990 and enjoyed trips to the casino playing table games and working on Old Model T cars. He was a lifelong member of the VFW, American Legion and Elks.
Edward is survived by one brother: Bruce Schwartz of Detroit Lakes
