Edward Syverson

Edward R. "Eddy" Syverson, age 65, of Detroit Lakes, MN, passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND. Funeral services for Eddy will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 20, 2015, at David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes. Visitation will be held from 3-5 p.m., Thursday, February 19, 2015, at David-Donehower Funeral Home. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday. Edward Robert Syverson was born April 1, 1949, to Charles and Beulah (Kar) Syverson in Hennepin County, MN. He grew up in Becker County, MN, attending school in rural Frazee, MN. Following his schooling, he worked at local farms, the Holiday Inn in Detroit Lakes, then the Becker County DAC. He went into retirement for a time, while attending the Lincoln Education Center. He then came out of retirement to work at the Becker County Workshop where he continued to work until the time of his passing. Eddy lived with good friend, Bonnie Storm from 1984, until December of 2006, when the home he shared with Bonnie became Divine House. He remained there until Divine House moved to its current location at East Shore Drive in 2008 where he lived until the time of his passing. Eddy enjoyed building, especially with wood, and considered himself a handy-man. He also enjoyed arts and crafts. Eddy loved nothing more than a good party and enjoyed visiting and staying in touch with family and friends. He was the Syverson family historian and did a good job of keeping people connected. He loved trips out west, trips with friends to the casino, where he not only enjoyed the chance to "win the jackpot", but loved the lights and activity there. He always took great pride in his appearance and dressed well. He captured life events on his video camera which he liked to share with those around him. He had a great memory and was a wonderful story-teller. He was well known by the community, as Eddy loved to walk up and down the main street stopping by each business to visit. He will be dearly missed. He is survived by his sister, Barbara Beyer of Willmar, MN; brother, Don Syverson of Detroit Lakes, MN; along with his Divine House Family. Preceding Eddy in death were his parents; two sisters: Elsie Syverson and Charlotte Syverson; along with good friend, Bonnie Storm.
