Edward W. Dormanen, 89, resident of Detroit Lakes, died December 27, 2015 at Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes. A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 2 at 1PM in David Donehower Funeral Home with a visitation one hour prior to services. Edward was born July 23, 1926 in Ottertail County to Gust and Hilma (Nevala) Dormanen. He grew in Menahga and attended school in Sebeka. After school he worked on the family farm until he was 18. On November 11, 1949 he was united in marriage to Darlene Weigel. They moved to Detroit Lakes in 1960 and later Grand Forks, ND where he worked for Bridgeman Creamery for 15 years. In 1976 he moved back to Detroit Lakes and did bookkeeping for Wally Swedberg for 10 years. Throughout his working career, Edward also worked at Consumer Gas Station in Detroit Lakes, Norby's and McDonalds. He enjoyed golfing until his accident, bowling, reading the daily news and volunteering at the Senior Center. Edward was a member of First Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes. He is survived by his children: Jeff (Becky) Dormanen of Queen Creek, AZ, Dean (Cheryl) Dormanen of Gilbert, AZ and Todd Dormanen of Frazee along with nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Lillian, Jennie, Sally, Ted, Marion, Martha, Carl, Mayme and one daughter-in-law: Terry Dormanen.
