Edwedge Hildebrand

Edwedge T. "Eddie" Hildebrand, 92, Detroit Lakes, died Monday, July 28 at Ecumen-Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday, August 1st at Augustana Lutheran Church in rural Detroit Lakes, Reverend John W. Lee, officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM Thursday, July 31 at David-Donehower Funeral Home. The visitation will continue 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Edwedge Teresa Hildebrand, known as Eddie, was born April 25, 1922 in rural Detroit Lakes, MN to Augustive and Amanda (Mathias) Blom. She was raised and educated in Detroit Lakes and is a 1940 graduate of Detroit Lakes High School. Eddie was united in marriage to Leonard Hildebrand on October 10, 1943 in Detroit Lakes. Following their marriage, Eddie and Leonard moved to Seattle, WA where they both worked building wings for B-17's at Boeing Aircraft. They returned to Detroit Lakes in 1949 and lived on a farm near Mud Lake. In 1958, they purchased Eddie's parents' home in Shoreham near Lake Melissa. Eddie cleaned cabins for area lake residents and helped her aunt with baking and catering in the area. In 2001 Eddie entered Emmanuel Nursing Home. Leonard died in 2011. Eddie enjoyed doing things with and for her grandchildren, she loved: flower gardening, music, driving for people who needed rides, teaching Sunday school and being Secretary of the Ladies Aide. Survivors include three sons: Hap (Micky) Hildebrand of Springfield, MN, Byrne Hildebrand of Brainerd, MN, and Peter Hildebrand of Detroit Lakes, MN; two grandchildren: Joshua Hildebrand and Megan Rosenfeldt; one step-granddaughter: Erika Seaquist. Three great-grandchildren: Zachary, Brianna and Makayla; two step-great-grandchildren: Christian and Conner. Eddie was preceded in death by her husband Leonard, parents and one brother.
