Eileen Steinmetz

Eileen Pearl Steinmetz was born December 2, 1928 in Browerville, MN to Charles and Ann (Stish) Obitz. She is a 1946 graduate of Browerville High School and, on July 15, 1947, she married her high school sweetheart, Leo Steinmetz in Browerville. They moved to Detroit Lakes, MN in 1951. Eileen enjoyed traveling to all 50 states, reading murder mysteries, saying her daily prayers, playing computer games, listening to music, playing her keyboard and, most of all, visiting with family and friends. Eileen worked at Emmanuel Nursing Home for many years and was an active member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Eileen and Leo were blessed with seven children: Cheryl Steinmetz of Monticello, MN, Don (Pam) of Detroit Lakes, MN, Judy (Dave) Petersen of Inver Grove Heights, MN, Dick (Lori Denison) of Rochester, MN, Bob (deceased), John of Shakopee, MN, and Ken (Kelly) of Lakeville, MN, 9 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister, Vanetta Thomson of Motley, MN. In addition to her son, Bob, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leo, her parents, Charles and Ann Obitz, a brother, Ed, sisters: Sylvia Plotnik, Bernice Johnson and Genevieve Stepaniak. The family extends their thanks to all of the caregivers at Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes, Cherrywood in Big Lake and the St. Croix Valley Hospice for the care and support they have given to Eileen. She is deeply loved and will be missed by all
