Eleinore Anderson

April 29, 1924 — February 4, 2009

Eleinore Anderson, 84, Detroit Lakes, MN, died Wednesday, February 4 at Meadow Lake Nursing Home in Mooresville, Indiana. Memorial services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, February 21 in the Congregational Church of Detroit Lakes, United Church of Christ, Reverend Mark Kuether, officiating. Interment will be in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Ft. Snelling, MN. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service.


Eleinore Anderson was born April 29, 1924 in Minneapolis, MN to Walter and Ruth (Tucker) Hagen. She was a 1941 graduate of St. Louis Park (MN) High School and earned degrees in Home Economics and Business from the University Of Minnesota in 1945. While at the U of M, she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. Eleinore was united in marriage to Winfred “Ted” Anderson, September 14, 1946 in Minneapolis. In 1948 they moved to Dassel, MN and to Detroit Lakes, MN in 1949. Eleinore cherished time with her family, but during her working life, she was a partner with Donna Nester and Kay Larson in the Marquee Gift Shop for seven years; was a substitute teacher in the Detroit Lakes Public Schools and for Becker County Human Services.


Eleinore was also active in the Congregational Church, was a Campfire Leader, was an active member of P.E.O., the Damien’s, served on the Library Board, was an avid supporter of Laker athletics. She faithfully attended her daughters’ activities and, along with her husband, Ted, raised funds for the Holmes Community and Cultural Center. Eleinore enjoyed tending her beautiful yard and flower gardens and she treasured the time she spent with her family and friends. Ted passed away July 15, 2006.


Eleinore is survived by two daughters, Jackie (Ted) Coyle of Plainfield, IN, Conni (Jack) Jannett of Apple Valley, MN; four grandchildren, Lyndsay and Meghan Coyle, Jeff and Jason Nolan; five great-grandchildren, Jeff’s children, Kiera and Ambria Nolan and Jason’s children, Savanna, Triston and Randilyn Nolan; brother, Jack (Audrey) Hagen of Golden Valley, MN. In addition to her husband, Eleinore was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Walter, Jr. Memorials are preferred to the Congregational Church in Detroit Lakes or Camp Courage, 8046 – 83 rd St. NW, Maple Lake, MN 55358.
