Elizabeth McCarthy

Elizabeth M. McCarthy, 79, Detroit Lakes, MN, died Wednesday, June 25 at St. Mary’s – Innovis Hospital in Detroit Lakes. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Saturday, June 28 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Fr. Jerry Rogers, officiating. Interment will be in Holy Rosary Cemetery.

Friends may call 5:00 – 7:00 PM Friday, June 27 with a Christian Mothers Rosary at 6:30 PM and Parish Vigil at 7:00 PM at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. The visitation will continue one hour prior to the mass at the church on Saturday.

Elizabeth M. Krzmarzick was born August 19, 1928 in Garrison, ND to Fredrick and Susanna (Reuter) Krzmarzick. She was raised and educated in Garrison and is a graduate of the St. Alexius School of Nursing in Bismarck, ND. She worked as a registered nurse in Bismarck, ND and Little Falls, MN. Liz was united in marriage to James McCarthy June 17, 1953 in Garrison, ND. The couple made their home in Detroit Lakes. Liz was active in Holy Rosary Church having taught CCD Classes, served as President of Christian Mothers, took part in Koinanea and Marriage Encounter. She enjoyed gardening, baking, bird watching, wearing hats and was an avid reader.

Survivors include her husband, Jim of Detroit Lakes; children, Clarence and his wife, Stephanie of Sparks, NV, Tim and his wife, Tammy of Long Lake, MN, Brian and his wife, Joyce of Adrian, MN, Susan and her husband, Dan Korf of Rochert, MN, Mark of Victoria, MN, Malachy and his wife Kristen of Lake City, MN, Marian and her husband, Doug Beumer of Minneapolis, MN, Justin and his wife, Michele of St. Louis Park, MN, Carol of Detroit Lakes; 23 grandchildren; brother, Romaine “Kris” of Vista, CA; sister, Phyllis and her husband, John Hunkele of Rapid City, SD; sister-in-law, Rosemary Bliss of St. Cloud, MN. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jean; her parents; sister, Virginia and brother, Leo.
