Elizabeth ("Betty") Sauvageau, Detroit Lakes, passed away at the age of 98, on September 24, 2024, in Edina, MN.
Born on April 7, 1926, in Fargo, ND to Olav "Ollie" Krag and Mary "Marie" Jendritza Krag. Betty lived her life devoted to her family and dedicated to her faith. Betty graduated from Fargo Shanley High School and continued her education at business school. Upon graduation she was employed at Standard Oil. She married George Sauvageau, on August 20, 1955, at the Fargo Cathedral of St. Mary. Betty and George moved their family to Detroit Lakes, MN in 1971 for the purpose of establishing Norseman Motors.
A woman of faith, Betty was a longtime member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Detroit Lakes, where she participated in various religious activities.
Betty was the ever optimistic sports fan and enjoyed cheering for the Vikings and the Twins no matter the score. She enjoyed spending time at the lake, her family, watching sports and movies, and spending time with her grandchildren and her many dogs especially her beloved Gigi. Her family remembers her as a guiding light whose legacy of love and strength will continue to live on in them.
Betty is survived by her seven children, Mary Beckmann, New Port Richey, FL, Daniel Sauvageau (Peggy), Detroit Lakes, MN, Bob Sauvageau (Stacy), Inver Grove Heights, MN, John Sauvageau (Donna), Detroit Lakes, MN, Julie Marino (Robert) Louisville, KY, Steve Sauvageau (Anne), Oakdale, MN, Sue Wagner (Noel), Eden Prairie, MN, eighteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, a brother, Bob Krag. She was preceded in death by her husband, George, a brother, Oliver Krag and a sister, Mary Rose Landeck.
A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Detroit Lakes, MN with visitation one hour prior to the service. Graveside service at Holy Rosary Cemetery to immediately follow.
