Elnora “Nora” Putney, 89, of Lake Park, MN passed away peacefully at her home on August 31, 2020.
Elnora “Nora” Mae Janke was born on August 13, 1931, in Hector, Minnesota to Henry and Anna (Inselmann) Janke. Nora graduated from Hutchinson High School with the class of 1950.
On February 17, 1951 Nora was united in marriage to Robert Dale Putney. The couple moved around a few times for Roberts work before settling in Fargo, ND in 1955. In 1977, they moved from Fargo, ND to Leaf Lake. Nora was a stay at home mother until the children all went to school. After the children were in school, she worked for a few retail stores in Fargo, before working with Robert at the diesel repair shop until his retirement. After moving to the lake, Nora worked in the kitchen at Sunnyside Care Center in Lake Park.
She loved her lake home and having family come to enjoy swimming at the lake in the summer and sliding in the winter. Family gatherings were always at the lake, she loved baking and cooking for the family.
Nora was a very active member of St Peter’s Lutheran, WELCA, bible study and church quilting group kept her busy. She would often spend numerous hours at home cutting and sewing quilt tops. If not quilting Nora was busy with other crafts, one of her favorites was to make framed Christmas trees with old jewelry that she found at rummage sales.
Deeply loved, Nora’s passing is mourned by her children Dale Putney of Leonard, ND, Mark Putney of Fargo, ND, Linda Putney of Fargo, ND, and Karen(Keith) Erickson of Lake Park, MN; three brothers and one sister; five grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband Robert; parents Henry and Anna; two brothers; daughter in-law Vickie Putney; and grandson Shawn Putney
