Elsie Mickelson

August 29, 1913 — September 1, 2008

Elsie S. Mickelson, beloved and gracious Mother, Grandmother and Great-grandmother, age 95, of Frazee, MN was called home to her Lord on Monday, September 1, 2008 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, MN. The Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM Saturday, September 6 at Bethany Lutheran Church, rural Menahga, MN with Pastor Steven A. Bruer officiating. Interment will be in Bethany Lutheran Cemetery, rural Menahga.  Visitation will be 5-8 PM Friday, September 5 at Furey Funeral Home in Frazee with a Prayer Service at 7:30 PM and will continue one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.




Elsie Severine Erickson was born August 29, 1913 at the family farm in Spruce Grove Township (rural Frazee) to Eilef and Severine (Hanson) Erickson. She attended grade school in Spruce Grove Township and graduated from Menahga High School in 1931. Elsie was united in marriage with David Mickelson August 30, 1933 at Bethany Lutheran Church where she was a lifelong member. Church and family were very important during her lifetime. Many lives were touched by her love and caring. In 1955 Elsie and David were honored with the Valley Farmer and Homemaker award. For many years they were members of the C-400 Club at Concordia College (Moorhead, MN). They also enjoyed traveling; including a trip to Norway in 1969.




Elsie is survived by her four children, Lois (Fred) Corwin of Bellevue, WA, David (January) Mickelson of Frazee, Dean (Diane) Mickelson of Frazee, Carol Alm of West Fargo, ND; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.


In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be sent to Bethany Lutheran Church in Menahga or to the Salvation Army.
