Emily I. Fairbanks, 66, resident of Osage, MN, died Sunday, November 7 at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND. Funeral Services for Emily will be held Wednesday, November 10 at 11:00 am in the New Pine Point School, Ponsford, MN. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 9 starting at 4:00 pm at the New Pine Point School in Ponsford, MN. Interment will be at Breck Memorial Episcopal Cemetery in Ponsford, MN. Emily was born on May 14, 1944 to Charles and Nancy (Butcher) Brown in White Earth, MN. They later moved to Ponsford, MN where Emily attended Pine Point School and later Park Rapids High School. After high school, Emily married George A. Fairbanks Sr. Together they moved to California, where George was stationed while serving with the Navy. After George was honorably discharged, they moved back to Ponsford. They were blessed with six children; Delmas, George, Bonnie Jo, Sheryl, Anthony and David. Emily worked at Sunset Nursing Home in Park Rapids as a CNA until severe Arthritis kept her from working. She enjoyed quilting, country music, bingo, fishing, and going to concerts at the casino. She loved being a Grandma and Great-Grandma and she remained very much a part of their lives. Her goal and dream was to see her grandchildren excel and do well in life. She encouraged them to do well in school and instilled a hard work ethic and good morals. Family was everything to Emily and her caring and giving spirit will be sadly missed by her entire family.
Emily is survived by her five children; Delmas (Alvina) Fairbanks of Ponsford, George (Barb) Fairbanks Jr. of Ponsford, Bonnie Jo (LeRoy Basswood) of Ponsford, Sheryl Fairbanks of Fargo, ND and Anthony (Bonnie) Fairbanks of Osage, MN. She also leaves behind her special friend Wayne Chesley of Ponsford, 14 Grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren along with two brothers; David Brown of Rush City, MN, Harold Brown of Ponsford and two sisters; Martha (Virgil) French of Ponsford and Donna (Bill) Crowell of Ponsford, MN. Emily was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Nancy, her husband George "Joe Bush", one son, David, one sister Evelyn French and four brothers; Robert Brown Sr., William Brown, Charles Brown Jr. and John Brown.
