Esther Ailie Anderson was born February 22, 1920 in Kingston, MN to William and Hilma (Illikainen) Hasty. She was raised and educated in Kingston and is a 1938 graduate of Litchfield High School. She attended teacher training in Litchfield and taught in Kingston schools for 4 years. Esther was united in marriage to Melton R. Anderson, April 27, 1944 in Detroit Lakes, MN. They farmed in rural Ponsford, MN until the early 1960's. They moved to Park Rapids, MN in 1993 and to Detroit Lakes in 1998. Melton died in 1999 and Esther continued to make her home at LampLighter Manor. Esther enjoyed coloring pictures, playing music on her keyboard and singing hymns, keeping her journals and jig-saw puzzles. She was very organized and knew how to plan her day. Her life was sustained by her faith. Survivors include five sons: Harold (Georgia) of Fergus Falls, MN, Bruce of St. Cloud, MN, John (Carol) of Fergus Falls, MN, Steven of Taft, CA, Terry of Detroit Lakes, MN; seven daughters: Gini (Ronnie) Oines of Park Rapids, MN, Susan Keezer of Elbow Lake Village, MN, Linda Anderson of Champlain, MN, Sharon Moe of Detroit Lakes, Elizabeth Lindahl of Rockport, TX, Kristine Powell of Bemidji, MN, Jodi Dey of Detroit Lakes, numerous grand, great grand and great great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Melton, she was preceded in death by three brothers: Carl, Einar and Elmer; five sisters: Mae, Helen, Ellen, Emma and Ailie, and three sons-in-law: Ken, Moe and Dan.
