Esther J. Moe, 82, resident of Detroit Lakes, MN, died peacefully Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes.
Funeral Services for Esther will be held on Saturday, March 29 at 4PM in David Donehower Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes. Visitation will be held at David Donehower Funeral Home on Saturday, March 29 from 2PM-4PM. Interment will be held later this spring at Lake Eunice Evangelical Cemetery, rural Detroit Lakes, MN. Esther Joyce Moench was born July 21, 1931 to Harry and Zara (Solmon) Moench in Detroit Lakes, MN. Esther grew up and was educated in the Callaway and Detroit Lakes area. On January 31, 1949, Esther was united in marriage to Lyle Moe in Waukegan, IL. She was employed at Victory and St. Therese Hospitals in Waukegan for several years. Esther returned to college to pursue a lifelong dream in becoming a nurse. After successfully completing her degree, Esther began working for St. Therese Hospital and Trauma Center in Waukegan. In 1979, Esther and Lyle moved to Audubon, MN where she was employed at St. Mary's Hospital emergency room in Detroit Lakes. After eight years at St. Mary's, Esther started working at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes, retiring in 1995. After retirement, Esther volunteered her time at Lake Eunice Evangelical Free Church. She enjoyed staying busy doing all sorts of handy work and loved to knit and crotchet. Esther will be remembered and missed by her four children: daughters: Sharon (David) Murray of Flagstaff, AZ, Patricia Joseph of Sturtevant, WI, sons: John Moe of Frazee and Duane Moe of Audubon along with 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Lyle and one grandson: Michael.
