Evelyn V. Anderson, 88, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2014 at the Frazee Care Center in Frazee. Funeral Services for Evelyn will be held Wednesday, November 26 at 11AM in Grace Lutheran Church, Detroit Lakes. Visitation will be held from 9AM-11AM in Grace Lutheran Church. Interment will be held in the spring at Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes.
Evelyn was born on December 22, 1925 in Rutland, ND to Obed and Suzanne (Kulzer) Wyum. She graduated from North Dakota State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in home economics education. On March 20, 1948 Evelyn was united in marriage to Maurice G. Anderson at the rural Wyum home. Evelyn and Maurice moved to Cotton Lake near Rochert, MN in January 1966. For the next 40 years, despite a number of occupations that would take them elsewhere, she continued to call the lakes country their home. Maurice passed away suddenly in 1973 due to a heart attack. Evelyn loved company and her entertainment skills were legendary. Her family and friends were of the utmost importance to her, and Evelyn lived life to the fullest. She will always be remembered for her motto: "Enjoy, enjoy!" Evelyn will be remembered and missed by her one son: Gary and his wife Nita of Riverdale, ND, her four grandchildren: Leah (Jonas) Peterson of Henderson, NV, Ryan Anderson of Rochert, MN, Heather (Dotun) Obadina of Pittsburgh, PA and Jessica (Jonathan) Lunde of Junction City, KS along with two great-grandchildren: Ethan and Lincoln Peterson. In addition, Evelyn is survived by her three sisters: Inez Orthmeyer of Sioux Falls, SD, Phyllis Osmundson of Fargo and Dorothy (Lewis) Dohman of St. Paul.
She is preceded in death by her parents Obed and Suzanne, husband: Maurice and two brothers: Robert and Earl. In lieu of flowers, the Anderson family suggests memorials be given to Grace Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes, Hospice of the Red River Valley or the Alzheimer's Association of Minnesota and North Dakota.
