Evelyn Alma Canham was born February 11, 1922 in Hankinson, North Dakota, the daughter of Percy and Frieda (Klawitter) Anderson. She passed away Thursday, January 30, 2020 at her home in Detroit Lakes surrounded by her family.
She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Wahpeton. Evelyn graduated from Breckenridge High School with the class of 1941. She continued her education at the Sherwood Music School of Chicago.
On January 21, 1942, she was united in marriage to Ronald Canham at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Wahpeton and to this union three children were born. They made their home in Wahpeton as she cared for the family home.
Evelyn served as the church choir director, taught Sunday school and confirmation, and was active with ladies’ aid and the women’s circle. She moved to the Frazee area in 1985 and cherished her time living on Lake Six. She enjoyed flower gardening, playing and listening to music. Evelyn especially enjoyed children, dogs, and a good bonfire.
She is survived by her children: Donna Vetter of Richland, Washington; Roland (Pat) Canham of Detroit Lakes; Sidney (Hope) Canham of Detroit Lakes; 10 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Canham in 1965; parents: Percy and Frieda Anderson; granddaughter: Michelle in infancy.
