Evelyn Anderson

Evelyn C. Anderson, 75, Detroit Lakes, MN, died Thursday, January 19 at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND surrounded by her loving family after a long and courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday, January 23 at David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may call 10:00 – 11:00 AM Monday at the funeral home. Evelyn Clarice Anderson was born July 18, 1935 in Barnesville, MN to Theodore and Mabel (Anderson) Gilbertson. She was educated in rural schools in the Rothsay and Barnesville area. Evelyn was united in marriage to Harold Anderson, the love of her live, July 31, 1954 and they settled in Detroit Lakes shortly after. They resided on the south shore of Little Detroit Lake for 15 years and then moved to the Chesterfield Addition where they lived to the present time. Evelyn was a wonderful and caring wife and mother. She always worked as a homemaker and loved children; even taking care of other children after her own had grown. She loved her home and family and was the center of a loving home. She had many talents, including mosaic artwork, sewing, bread baking, and lefsa making, among many others. Survivors include her husband of 57 years, Harold, of Detroit Lakes, a son: David Anderson of Detroit Lakes, a daughter: Beverly (Paul) Johnson of Detroit Lakes, four grandchildren: Joe Johnson (Hope) of Detroit Lakes, Teri Johnson (Nathian) of Detroit Lakes, James Johnson (Abby) of Pelican Rapids, Michael Fistler (April) of Detroit Lakes, three great-grandchildren: Danielle Kramer, Abigail Lee and Wyatt Johnson; five sisters: Dorothy (Larry) Peterson of Detroit Lakes, Gladys (Dick) Hammill of Cambridge, MN, Myrtle (Roy) Kittelson of Detroit Lakes, Thora Theissen of Aberdeen, SD, Alice Moench of Muscatine, IA; two brothers: Gordon (Dorothy) Gilbertson of Detroit Lakes and Charles (Gloria) Gilbertson of Moorhead, MN. She was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law: Linda and Jim Fistler. her parents, three brothers: Oscar, Lawrence and Jerome Gilbertson and a sister: Ruth Kloeppel.
