Evelyn Marie Monserud, age 78, of Strawberry Lake, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 30, 2024, at her home in Detroit Lakes.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 19, at the Northern Lights Freedom and Life Church in Richwood, Minnesota.
Born on October 20, 1945, in Albert Lea, Minnesota, Evelyn was the eldest of five children to her loving parents, Donald and Lucille (Claude) Pritchard. After graduating from Albert Lea High School in 1964, she briefly attended college with the intention of becoming a nun but realized that it was not her calling.
Evelyn worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) before transitioning to a bookkeeping position at Cenex in St. Paul, Minnesota. In 1974, she accepted Christ into her heart and married Dale Monserud in 1982. Together, they enjoyed 33 years of marriage and raised seven beloved children.
Evelyn had a passion for gardening and reading and pursued her studies at multiple Bible colleges. Her love for travel allowed her to spread the word of God; she became a pastor in 2016 and served with a missionary heart in countries such as Mexico, Trinidad, Jamaica, and Grenada. Her faith inspired her to courageously smuggle Bibles into China and Hong Kong. A staunch pro-life activist, she stood firm in her beliefs.
In addition to her spiritual pursuits, Evelyn enjoyed many years as a cook at Maplelag Resort and working at Country Inn & Suites. She was a proud grandmother and great-grandmother who cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren.
Evelyn's life was filled with singing, teaching, praying, and sharing God's word with anyone willing to listen. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to many. Her legacy of faith and love will continue to inspire those who knew her.
