Everett LeCount

May 17, 1932 — September 6, 2010

Everett Charles LeCount was born May 17, 1922 near Dickinson, ND to Ralph and Ada (White) LeCount. They lived in Clarissa, MN until moving to Menahga, MN in 1938. At age 5 he played harmonica with a local band that featured a singer who was in high school. Everett is a 1941 graduate of Menahga High School. He moved to California in 1942 where he worked for a dairy until joining the Marines in November of 1942. While in the Marines, he spent 27 months in the South Pacific, Guam, Guadal Canal and Iwo Jima. He was united in marriage to June Gustafson February 10, 1946 in Long Beach, CA. They returned to Minnesota where he worked as a woodworker creating cabinets and furniture. They moved back to California where he did construction work prior to opening a 200 goat grade A dairy. In the two years of operating the dairy, they sold milk and made about 100 pounds of cheese a week. They moved back to Minnesota in 1958 where he continued his love of woodworking. In 1968 they moved to their present home in rural Detroit Lakes where he farmed and operated his woodworking shop until retiring in 1980.


Everett enjoyed fishing, playing pool and traveling.



Survivors include his wife, June of Detroit Lakes, a son: David and his wife Linda of Detroit Lakes; four grandchildren: Thor LeCount, Chad LeCount, David (Kimo) LeCount and Tanya“TJ”(Jeremy)Tjaden.Sixgreat-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son: Robert, his parents, a brother: Bill, a sister: Ora and an infant brother.
