Florence M. Eischens, 73, resident of Ponsford, MN, died Friday, May 2, 2014 in Park Rapids, MN.
Florence Margaret Ortley was born May 3, 1940 in White Earth, MN to Stephen and Iona (Bassett) Ortley. She attended school in Pine Point and Park Rapids. On April 1, 1959, Florence was united in marriage to Eugene "Gene" Eischens. After marriage they lived in Minneapolis where Florence was employed at AIM Survival School as a teacher's aide and Gene worked as a mechanic. In 1976 they retired and moved to Osage. They later moved to Pine Point. Florence enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She loved watching Lifetime movies, reading her prayer books, attending pow-wows, listening to country music and crossword puzzles. During her younger years, Florence and Gene loved to dance.
Florence is survived by her five children: Dave Eischens (Bobbi Jo Thompson) of White Earth, Lori Adams of Pine Point, Eugene (Valerie) Eischens Jr. of Minneapolis, Renee Bloom (Steve McCarren) of Park Rapids, Tanya Eischens of Minneapolis, step-children: Janice Parsons of Post Falls, ID, Richard Eischens of Kirkland, WA and Mary Benham of Kent, WA. She is also survived by many grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother: Steve Ortley of Minneapolis and three sisters: Sylvia Ortley of Mahnomen, Roberta Ortley of Minneapolis, and Charlotte (Frank) Elias of Houston, TX.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Gene (2010) along with four brothers and two sisters.
