Florence Lucille Hauglid passed away peacefully May 17, 2015 at the Cottages at Ecumen in Detroit Lakes, MN. A graveside service and interment will be at 3:00 pm on Saturday, May 23 at Oakdale Cemetery in Crookston. A dove will be released in memory of Florence at 2:00 pm on Sunday, May 24 at David Donehower Funeral Home's Memorial Day Service. A celebration of Florence's life will be held on what would have been her 99th birthday June 28, 2015 on the lake land that her children love. Florence was born June 28, 1916 to Christian and Mabel (Herbranson) Gorder in Crookston MN. She married Lester Thomas Hauglid on January 21, 1934 and they lived their married lives in Crookston and Moorhead. When Lester passed away in 1980 Florence moved to S. Twin Lake, east of Detroit Lakes, to the lake land that her grandmother purchased in the early 1930's and the cabin her mother and father built in 1938. She later moved into Detroit Lakes and lived several years with her son Mike and family. In 2003 she moved to the Lamplighter Manor and then the Cottage in 2014 as her health declined. Florence was an avid quilter sewing by hand baby blankets and bed quilts for family and friends. Those who sleep under one of her quilts, sleep under a blanket of love. Florence is survived by her children: Laddie Hauglid of Detroit Lakes and his wife Grace of Eveleth, Marsha Prady of Frazee, Leslee Henry of Bennett, CO, Joan (John) Leikness of Frazee, Jon (Diane) Hauglid of Dilworth, Tim Hauglid of Dilworth and Mike (Sue) Hauglid of Detroit Lakes; 24 grandchildren; over 50 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband Lester, she is preceded in death by infant son, David; adult sons, Kim and Thomas; two son-in-laws, Russ Prady and Noel Henry; and one grandson, Brandon Hauglid . The family would like to thank all the wonderful nurses at the Cottage who loved and took care of their mother and Hospice of the Red River Valley who assisted in her passing away peacefully. The family requests all donations be to either Ecumen-The Cottage or Hospice of the Red River Valley.
