Florence Johannsen was born September 9, 1918 in Taylor Township, Wheaton, MN to August and Mathilda Ahlsten. She attended school at District 60. After graduation Florence attended Beauty School in Fergus Falls, MN, working there before meeting and marrying Duane Johannsen in Wheaton in 1941. They moved to Santa Monica, CA and lived there before returning to the family homestead in 1942. Florence and Duane farmed in Wheaton until 1963, then moving to Detroit Lakes. Florence had been a resident at Lincoln Park senior living for the past six years.
Florence?s primary joy was spending time with her family and friends, followed by her many varied interests of playing cards, baking, music, and her love of her church.
Florence is survived by three sons, Richard and Jerry of Detroit Lakes, Donald (Sharon) of Walker, MN; two daughters, Bonita (Dennis) Krenz of Wheaton, LaVonne Carpenter of Detroit Lakes; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Duane; four sisters; four brothers; her parents; and one grandson.
