Gail B. Bucholz, 72, resident of Detroit Lakes, MN, died Friday, April 17, 2015 at her residence in Detroit Lakes.
Funeral Services for Gail will be held Wednesday, April 22 at 2:30 PM in Holy Rosary Catholic Church-St. John's Hall. Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 21 at David Donehower Funeral Home from 5PM-7PM. Gail Beverly Bartness was born in Perham, MN on January 29, 1943 to Aldred and Edna (Mattfield) Bartness. As a young child she moved with her parents to Washington State. A few years later, they moved back to Minnesota. She graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1961. After high school she started working as a secretary at the Junior High in Detroit Lakes On March 3, 1962 Gail was united in marriage to Donald Bucholz at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. They resided in Detroit Lakes where Don and Gail owned and operated the local ambulance service. Gail spent most of her time raising their eight daughters and assisting whenever she could with the ambulance service. As her children grew older, Gail opened G. Beverly's Bookstore in the Washington Square Mall. Following the bookstore, she worked many years at the Shooting Star Casino and Lakes Medi-Van. Gail retired from Medi-Van in 2013 and enjoyed spending her free time with her daughters and grandchildren. She was also a talented seamstress and over the years made many quilts which her family will cherish for years to come. Gail will be remembered and missed by her eight daughters: Lisa (Richard) Baker of Minnetonka, MN, Lori (Jeffrey) Nustad of Detroit Lakes, Lynn (David) Dorff of Detroit Lakes, Lee (Paul) Hagen of Henderson, NV, Lanette (Edward) Oellien of Detroit Lakes, LaVonne (Arlen) Nelson of Lake Park, Lucia (Troy) Anderson of Detroit Lakes and Libby Bucholz (Erik Ladwig) of Detroit Lakes. In addition she is survived by 20 grandchildren along with three great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Donald Bucholz (1991) and mother Edna Bartness.
