Gail Eunice Erickson was born December 5, 1933 near Hawley, MN, to Emil and Thora (Zachairson) Erickson. She grew up milking cows and was employed at a local gas station as a teenager. Gail's love for music started early in life. When she was 15 she sang on the Hawley radio station. Her love for music carried on throughout life. On September 22, 1951, Gail was united in marriage to Raymond Laney. Gail and Raymond resided near Audubon most of their entire life. Gail was a wonderful hostess. Every 4th of July, she entertained family and community showcasing her love for music, enjoyment of well prepared food and camaraderie of friends and family. Raymond passed away July 10, 2000. Gail enjoyed cooking, woodworking and making crafts. On the farm she had "Gramma Gail's" where locals would purchase her hand made crafts. She continued sharing her musical talent at area churches and special functions. Gail had a very strong faith and love for her Savior Jesus Christ. When she was diagnosed with cancer she relied on Him. Thru Him, she beat the odds for 4 years. God finally finished preparing a place for Gail and called her home. Gail will be remembered and missed by her four children: Kathleen (Mark) Reineccius of Audubon, Dan (Connie) Laney of Howard Lake, MN, Mitch Laney of Fergus Falls and Kevin (Mary) Audubon. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren: Tracy Strub, Heather Laney, Travis Laney, Benjamin Laney, Sarah Larson, Jessica Hilde, Jennifer Laney and Angela Laney along with 11 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Raymond, four brothers: Mansel Erickson, Wesley Erickson, Donald Erickson and Wayne Erickson along with two sisters: Delores Rosing and Gladys Erickson.
