Garret Alan Schantzen, 34, Detroit Lakes, MN, passed on to heaven the morning of Saturday, August 22, 2020 at Vibra Hospital in Fargo, ND. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday, August 28 at David-Donehower Funeral Home. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Frazee, MN.
Garret Alan Schantzen was born August 8, 1986 in Edina, MN to Earl and Tammy (Haataja) Schantzen. He was raised and educated in Menahga, MN and is a 2005 graduate of Menahga High School. Following graduation, he worked for numerous companies prior to starting work at Dynamic Homes in Detroit Lakes 18 months ago. Garret loved his kids, his God, football, President Trump, his job at Dynamic Homes, strong coffee and liked to be known as the “Baby Whisperer”. He had a talent for everything he did except figuring out how to put the handle down on the vacuum. He broke so many! He was known for his generosity, especially to the broken and less fortunate, his goofy character and his contagious laugh.
Survivors include his daughters: Hannah and Ava Schantzen of Dawson, MN, The children he loved like his own: Rhyzen and Arayah Parsons of Park Rapids, his Mother: Tammy Schantzen and Step-Father, Tim Shore of Detroit Lakes, his grandmother: Elaine Haataja of Menahga, a brother: Chris Cushman (Mariah Hoeper) of Moorhead, MN, a sister: Lindsey Shore of Detroit Lakes, nieces and nephews: McKenna, Cyleus, Zalias, Kaius and Saiya. His longtime love: Sammone Parsons of Park Rapids.
Greeted in Heaven by his Dad Earl Schantzen, grandparents, and aunts.
