Gene Schermerhorn

Gene Calvin Schermerhorn of Callaway, MN passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 10, 2022 in Detroit Lakes, MN. Gene was born to Sankey and Anna (Kubiszewski) Schermerhorn at their homestead in Callaway, MN on November 27, 1933. He married his lifelong partner Doris Stanton of Frazee, MN on November 14, 1954. Over the years Gene was an Ice Harvester in Detroit Lakes, MN, a farmer at his homestead in Callaway, MN, a Carpenter for Boeing in Renton, WA, a Nationwide Truck Driver & Gardener in his retirement. Gene loved to hunt, fish, garden and take care of his farm animals.

Survived by Gene are his wife, Doris (Stanton) Schermerhorn, their children, Nancy Vyborny of Detroit Lakes, MN, Jeff (Antonette) Schermerhorn of Canadian, TX, Perry (Lynda) Schermerhorn of Gig Harbor, WA, Jenni (Tim) Shea of San Marcos, CA & Amy (Tim) Nelson of Rochert, MN, his sister Bernice Serdahl of Eureka, CA and 12 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Bud & Roy.

Service to be held at David-Donehower on Friday, July 15, 2022 at 11:00 with visitation 1 hour prior to service.
