Genevieve DeSautel

Genevieve A. DeSautel, 81, resident of Detroit Lakes, MN, formerly of Grafton, ND, died Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at her residence in Detroit Lakes. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, September 16, 2011 at 2:00 PM in St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church, rural Detroit Lakes. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to services on Friday. Interment will be held at St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Grafton, ND on Monday, September 19 at 12:00 PM Genevieve was born May 15, 1930 in Stephen, MN to Leo and Helen (Banaszewski) Przybylski. She attended school and graduated from Stephen High School in 1948. On June 12, 1949 Genevieve was united in marriage to Gerald Meier. They divorced in 1970. On August 11, 1972, Genevieve was united in marriage to Norman DeSautel. Genevieve worked at the local clothing store and flower shop in Grafton throughout her working career and was active at St. John's Catholic Church serving on several committees. Genevieve and Norman spent their retirement years traveling around the country and enjoyed their winters in the warmer climate of Arizona. In 2007 Norman passed away. Genevieve continued to live in Grafton until 2008, when she relocated to be closer to her family. She quickly became acclimated into the community of Detroit Lakes making several friends in the process. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, crocheting and baking along with spending time with her family especially her grandchildren; Grace, Clara and Jesse. Genevieve will be remembered and missed by her daughter: Sue (Rick) Livermore of Detroit Lakes, her three grandchildren: Grace, Clara and Jesse along with 10 step grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters: Adele VanderLinden of Moorhead, MN and Dorothy Woinarowicz of Stephen, MN. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Norman (2007) and one brother: Eugene Przybylski.
