Georgia L. Reiffenberger, 66, Detroit Lakes, MN, died Thursday, November 16 at Essentia Health in Fargo, ND.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, November 20 at 1:30PM in Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Detroit Lakes. Visitation will be held Sunday, November 19 from 5pm-7pm with a 6:30pm Rosary Service and 7PM Prayer Service. Visitation will also continue Monday one hour prior to Mass.

Georgia Lee Cardwell was born May 18, 1951 in Webster, SD to Delmer and Betty (Thorpe) Cardwell. She graduated from Richfield High School in Minneapolis, MN with the class of 1969. Georgia furthered her education at Moorhead State College where she majored in Special Education. After college she taught for one year in Valley City, ND. On June 7, 1975 Georgia was united in marriage to Thomas Reiffenberger and they resided in Detroit Lakes. Georgia worked 1974-1980, as the Assistant Director and then as the Director of the Becker County DAC. In 1980 to current, Georgia worked at Lakes Homes Program and Development Inc. Georgia handled many duties which included, direct support professional, program coordinator and was the office manager for the past five years. Georgia enjoyed cooking, sewing, traveling, reading and following her children and grandchildren's extra-curricular activities. Georgia enjoyed everything about being a Grandma. Her proudest accomplishment was her family and loved spoiling her five grandchildren to the fullest. The annual summer family vacation to the area lakes was one of Georgia’s favorite times to be with her family. Georgia was a giver and caretaker by nature, teaching her children to always respect others, keep their family close and always show kindness. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed by her family. Georgia is survived by her husband Tom of Detroit Lakes and their children: Andrew (Lynsey) Reiffenberger of Delano, MN, Justin (Nicole) Reiffenberger of Clear Lake, MN and Molly (Nicholas) Fairbanks of Detroit Lakes. She is also survived by five grandchildren: Grace, Jaxon, Charlie, Grady and Oliver along with her father, Delmer Cardwell of Millbank, SD and one sister: Colleen (Ray) Schnable of Pasadena, Maryland.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Betty Cardwell.
