Gerald Kozitka

July 28, 1950 — December 9, 2007



Gerald Lee Kozitka was born July 28, 1950 in Detroit Lakes, MN to Clarence and Joyce (Liezert) Kozitka. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ogema. He attended Waubun, MN public Schools and later worked in building construction in the Ogema-Waubun area. He attended farrier college in Sturgis, SD and became a professional farrier traveling throughout the entire United States shoeing horses. In 1986, he became employed with Granite Construction Company of Indego, CA and traveled the world working on various construction projects.



Jerry was a member of the Club on the Green 2 cycle engine club, The Dalton Club, and was an avid antique John Deer Tractor collector. He enjoyed horses, photography, John Deer tractors, traveling, his dog, Duke, Air Shows, The Olympics, The National Rodeo and the National Country Music Awards.



Survivors include his mother, Joyce Kozitka of Detroit Lakes, brothers and sisters, Curt and his wife, Dawn of Detroit Lakes, Janice and her husband Tom Teiken of Ogema, Wayne and his wife, Lorrie of Howard Lake, MN, Betty and her husband Robert Berry of Philip, SD, Steve and his wife Jane of Ogema, Dinah and her husband Ron Henderson of Golden Valley, MN, Walt and his wife, Jane of Detroit Lakes, Connie and her husband Dave Skrivseth of Maple Grove, MN, Rick of Perham, MN and Jim and his wife Tracey of Crookston, MN. He was preceded in death by his father, his grandparents and a nephew, Mike Teiken. David-Donehower Funeral Home is serving the family.
