Gloria Douville

Gloria F. Douville, 77, Detroit Lakes, MN, passed away Monday, August 12 at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND.

Memorial Services for Gloria will be held Monday, August 19 at 1PM in David Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to services.

Gloria Fern Slaubaugh was born December 4, 1941 in Wolford, ND to Daniel and Elizabeth (Graber) Slaubaugh.  Upon graduation from Wolford Public School, Gloria moved to Fargo, ND, where she met her true love, Dennis Douville.   Gloria and Denny were united in marriage on May 13, 1961.  They moved to Grand Forks, ND where they raised their four children, Paul, Deb, Kim and Denise.    Gloria was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker.  The aroma of Pine-Sol was a common occurrence (Pine-Sol = a clean house).  Being a talented seamstress, she sewed many outfits over the years for her children along with making many costumes for each activity.   While shopping, Gloria often shot down her children’s purchase requests with, “I can make that for less” and repeatedly proved it to be true.  Gloria’s creative flare had her painting “and gifting” many ceramics throughout her life.   Her eye for interior and exterior decorating was a special gift she showcased with class.   Her marriage to Denny was a testament of true love and her love for family was instilled in her children.    Denny passed away in 1987.  Later, Gloria moved to the lake place in Detroit Lakes where she lived out her remaining years.   She will be remembered and missed by her children:  Paul (Tammy) Douville of Faribault, MN ,  Deb (Joe) Wech of Lakeville, MN, Kim (Clay) Loeffler of Blaine, MN and Denise (David) Baer of Detroit Lakes, MN,  grandchildren:  Nicholas, Charlie, Danielle, Courtney, Adam, Ashley, Haley, and Zac, great-grandchildren:  Kennedy and Agatha, siblings: Catherine Shrock, Paula (Tom) Eigsti and Dan (Marlys) Slaubaugh,  along with many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband Dennis, her parents: Daniel and Elizabeth, Harold Anderson, sister: Marian (Chuck) Grumbo and other beloved family members:  Alcide and Gladys Douville, Dave Schrock, Bill and Mugs Douville, Bruce and Dallas Schrock.
