The funeral for Harriet Cecelia Kivilin, Detroit Lakes, Minn., will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, May 28th, 2009 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Detroit Lakes with Father Jerry Rogers officiating. Visitation will be form 3:00 - 4:30 PM on Wednesday May 27th at Holy Rosary Church with a prayer service at 4:30 PM.
Harriet Cecelia Kivilin was born February 22, 1922 in Chicago, IL to Henry and Cecilia (Frosch) Fulmer. She married James J. Kivilin on October 23, 1954 in Evanston, IL. They lived in Elmwood Park, IL until moving in 1960 to Detroit Lakes, MN.
Harriet owned and operated the Country Store in Detroit Lakes during the 1970’s. The store is fondly remembered as having an old fashioned soda fountain and the best ice cream in town. The store also expanded to serve as a hobby store.
At the time of her death she resided at Hiawatha Care Center in Hiawatha, Iowa so she could be closer to her daughter, grandchildren and a great grandson.
She is survived by her daughter, Michelle ( Mark) Hart and her grandchildren, Danielle Steger, Jonathan Steger and James Hart. She is also survived by her great grandson, DeAndre Steger. Harriet Cecelia Kivilin began her journey into everlasting life Monday May 18th, 2009. She was preceded in this journey by her husband, James J. Kivilin as well as her brothers, Henry Fulmer and Chester Fulmer and her sister, Helen Liecker.
