Inadel M. Gunnarson, 75, resident of Hawley, MN, died Monday, February 20, 2012 at Emmanuel Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes. Funeral Services for Inadel will be held Thursday, February 23 at 2:00 PM in Eksjo Lutheran Church, rural Lake Park, MN. Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 22 at David Donehower Funeral Home from 4:30 PM until 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to services on Thursday.
Inadel was born April 15, 1936 in Rochester, Michigan to Frederick and Alice Anderson. Inadel graduated from Avondale High School in Auburn Hills, MI. After high school she completed schooling for hair design. Inadel was united in marriage to Virgil D.R. Gunnarson on November 9, 1956 in St. John's Lutheran Church, Rochester, MI. They resided in Hopkins, MN and later New Brighton, MN. For a short time, Inadel was employed at the Federal Reserve Bank and also at Land O' Lakes in Minneapolis. In 1969, Inadel and Virgil moved to Lake Park, MN. In 1980 they moved to Grand Forks, ND and in 1983 they settled back in the Lake Park and Hawley area. Inadel enjoyed selling Rainbow vacuum cleaners for a number of years. She also kept busy with the U.S. Census Bureau along with working at Wal-Mart and seasonally with Hickory Farms. Inadel had a giving nature. She enjoyed teaching kids how to bake; often sharing her reciepes with whomever was willing to learn. Her turkey dinners and pies were very special to Inadel's family. Along with being an exceptional cook, Inadel was a wonderful seamstress, sewing many pieces of clothing for her family over the years. Inadel enjoyed fishing, taking care of her animals and spending time out in the country with her children and grandchildren instilling in them that "Home is where your heart is".
Inadel will be remembered and missed by her husband: Virgil D.R. Gunnarson of Hawley, MN, three sons: Darrell (Kim) Gunnarson of Hawley, MN, Daniel Gunnarson of Reno, NV, Jai Gunnarson of Fargo, ND and one daughter: Brenda Gunnarson of Hawley, MN along with four grandchildren and one sister: Violet Frankowski of Mulberry, FL. She is preceded in death by her parents and one sister: Marilyn Lawrence. David Donehower Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
