James Beckwith

James E. Beckwith, 70, resident of rural Frazee, MN, died Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at St. Mary's Essentia Health in Detroit Lakes. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, January 19, 2011 at 11:00 AM in David Donehower Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes. Monsignor Timothy McGee officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services on Wednesday. Jim was born November 12, 1940 in Hammond, Indiana. He was raised and educated in Hammond, graduating from East Washington High School in 1958. He furthered his education at the University of Illinois. He worked at a local steel mill before enlisting into the United States Army. He proudly served his country from 1963-1965, traveling extensively throughout the United States. Following his honorable discharge, Jim moved to Indiana. He worked at a few different construction jobs in Indiana and Illinois. Jim married Linda Watkins on December 20, 1985. In May of 1986, they moved to Big Twin Lake near Frazee. Jim immediately fell in love with the area. He enjoyed the outdoors where he was able to hunt and fish. This past November, Jim got his first 10 point buck and was extremely proud of that. In his spare time, Jim followed sports and enjoyed watching wrestling, basketball and football. He enjoyed spending time with his family and recently was able to spend time with his kids and grandchildren in North Carolina.

Jim will be remembered and missed by his wife: Linda of Frazee, MN, children: Kari (Brian) Jolly of Morrisville, NC and Bob (Michelle) Beckwith of Virginia Beach, VA. He is also survived by two grandchildren: Katherine and Matthew of Morrisville, NC along with two sisters: Sandra Wilmot of Apache Junction, AZ and Linda (Jim) Phillips of Dierbach, Germany.
