James "Jim" Rieger, 83, Pelican Rapids, MN, formerly of Detroit Lakes, died Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Essentia Health in Fargo.
Visitation will be Friday, April 4, 2014 at David – Donehower Funeral Home, 609 US Hwy 10 East in Detroit Lakes from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 5, 2014 at 11:00 am at the funeral home, with Fr. Todd Arends officiating.
Jim was born November 11, 1930 in Wadena, MN, son of Martin and Esther (nee Adrie) Reger.
Jim served in the Army after WWII before returning home to Minnesota. He worked in a variety of occupations but is best known as the owner of Rieger Repair in Detroit Lakes.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years Violet (nee Honeck) Rieger of Pelican Rapids, daughter Lane Soydara of FL; son David (Valerie) Rieger of IN; and daughter Lori (Damian) Baker of England. Jim is also survived by siblings Glenn (Marilyn) Reger, Patricia (Robert) Bogart, Richard (Carol) Reger and sister-in-law Elaine Reger, all of MN; grandsons James Soydara of FL, David (Jaclyn) Rieger of IL, and Daniel Rieger of IN, granddaughter Nancy Soydara of FL, and a host of friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Robert Reger and William Reger, a sister-in-law: Sharon Reger.
