James Runger

James T. Runger, age 80, of Detroit Lakes, Mn passed away January 11, 2025 at the VA hospital in Fargo ND, surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born August 3, 1944, as the son of Harry and Helen (Clark) Runger. Jim graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1962 and went on to study sheet metal refrigeration at Wahpeton School of Science.

Jim received a Purple Heart while serving in Vietnam as a helicopter crew chief. Jim worked in Wyoming and Moorhead, MN before starting Runger Heating and Air conditioning in Detroit Lakes, MN.

 Jim is survived by wife Kathryn (Sundvall), Sons Thomas (Corrie) Runger of Hawley, Step Granddaughter Jasmine (Alex) Vasichek, West Fargo ND and John (Jean) Runger Grandsons Braden and Jacob of West Fargo, Sister Ramona (Dale) Amundson, niece Sue (Mitch) Luepp of Surrey, ND and nephew Mike (Karen) Amundson of Fargo.

Jim will be greatly missed by his 3 step- children: Tammy (Kevin) Holthaus of Brooklyn Park MN, Carter (Kendra) and Caden, Teri (Jeremy) Hansen of Brooklyn Park, MN and Thomes, Jacob and Kendall, Mindy (Eric) Gillen of St. Michael, MN, Anthony and Tyler, and many friends and large extended family.
