James Schmit

James Edward Schmit, 63 passed away peacefully at his lake home on August 8, 2017.
Jim was born May 31, 1954 in Breckenridge, MN to Jerome and Imelda “Millie” (Widhalm) Schmit. He was raised on the family farm in Tintah, MN, the second of 10 children. He attended technical school in Alexandria, MN for one year taking course work in auto mechanics. He moved to Fargo in 1976 and worked at Massey Ferguson along with the City of Fargo and Fargo Forklift as a diesel mechanic. In 1979, he was united in marriage to Glenda Wolf in Hazen, ND. Jim started a new career as a finish carpenter and continued this until his retirement. Jim and Glenda raised two sons, Christopher and Travis Schmit. Over the years they enjoyed many summers at their lake home with family and friends.
Jim is survived by his wife Glenda, two sons: Christopher (Mikki) Schmit, and Travis Schmit. In addition he is survived by his siblings: Cathy (Reed) Johnson, Diane Schmit, Richard (Mary Kay) Schmit, Daniel (Cindy) Schmit, Joan Garvey, Laura Hahn, Robert (Jane) Schmit, Ronald (Sonja) Schmit and Dave Schmit.
A Celebration of Jim’s life will be held at Jim’s shop following services.
