James Thompson Jr

James William Thompson Junior, age 60, of Pine Point, MN, passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2016, at Sanford Hospital in Bismarck, ND. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, February 16, 2016 at the Old Pine Point School in Ponsford, Mike Dahl officiating. A visitation will begin at 4:00 pm on Monday, February 15, 2016, at the Old Pine Point School and will continue until the time of service on Tuesday. Interment at Breck Memorial Episcopal Cemetery following the service. James was born on November 11, 1955, to James Senior and Violet Priscilla (Weaver) Thompson in Park Rapids, MN. He went to school in Park Rapids and went on to earn his G.E.D. He then moved to Saint Paul where resided for the majority of his life. In 1972 he joined the U.S. Marine Corp where he served honorably. In 2000 he was united in marriage to DiAnn Schwarting. James was a lifelong logger who got his start working for his father. He also worked as a welder. James retired in 2011 after he was injured and disabled. James was an avid artist who enjoyed drawing and writing poetry. He also enjoyed spending time with his family. He is survived by his Fiancée, Ava Houle of Bismarck, ND; sons: James Thompson III of Bismarck, ND, Dante Schwarting of Bismarck, ND, and Mason Peet of Bismarck, ND; a daughter, Tana Violet Thompson of Saint Paul; brothers: George Thompson of Deer River, Mikey (Autumn) Thompson of Park Rapids, Joe Thompson of Mahnomen, Lee Thompson of Park Rapids, Fred Thompson of Kentucky, and Charles Thompson of Moose Lake; a sister, Marion Thompson of Pine Point; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, DiAnn; parents, James and Violet; a son, Richard Norcross; two infant sons; a daughter, Cassandra Jo Norcross; sisters: Sharon Thompson, and Marcia Thompson; and numerous other family members.
