Jane Johnston Sheryak Davey, 86, of Detroit Lakes, MN died Monday November 26 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes. A�A�A½The Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 5 at the Emmanuel Nursing Home Chapel. A�A�A½
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at Emmanuel Nursing Home on Wednesday.
Jane Johnston was born July 24, 1921 in Anderson IN to George and Marjorie (Flory) Johnston. A�A�A½Jane started her career as a vocalist in dance bands around the country. A�A�A½In 1945 she moved to Fargo, ND. A�A�A½While working for WDAY, she hosted Red Owl Theatre and was a spokeswoman for many commercial products. A�A�A½In 1960 she moved to the Twin Cities and started in radio broadcasting on KSTP. A�A�A½Graduating to stardom, she was the host of Dialing for Dollars on Minneapolis KSTP-TV. A�A�A½In 1976 she moved to St. Petersburg, FL and directed and hosted a daytime interview program on WGOT, where she interviewed many famous musicians and actors. A�A�A½Jane is published in the World?s Who?s Who of Women and Foremost Women in Communications. She had authored two books; Sensuous Cookery or How to Make it in the Kitchen, 1971 and Spilling the Beans, 1979. A�A�A½She was a member of Fashion Group of America, V.P.N.O. Chapter, American Women in Radio and Television, Society of Fine Arts, Friends of the Society, Walker Art Center, Safety Council and the American Federation of Radio and Television Artists.
Jane married Bill Sheryak in December of 1940 in Louisville, KY. A�A�A½Bill died July 21, 1976. A�A�A½Jane married Bill Davey in September of 1979 in Edina, MN. A�A�A½She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; and her daughter Lynn.
Jane is survived by one son, Scott Sheryak and his wife Linda of Detroit Lakes; brother, George Johnston and his wife Nancy of Naples, FL; three granddaughters, Tracy Bailey and her husband John of Edina, MN, Lisa Sheryak , also of Edina, Jerilyn Sheryak of Detroit Lakes; three great-grandchildren, Jack, Emma and Josie.
