Jane Piechowski

Jane Elaine Braaten was born May 5, 1942 in Benson, MN to Roy and Rose (Maras) Braaten. She attended a small country school and later St. Francis Catholic School in Benson. In high school she entered Mt. St. Benedict Monastery in Crookston, MN where she graduated. Jane moved to Wilmar, MN and was employed at Jenni O Turkey plant. It was in Wilmar that Jane met David Piechowski. Together they moved to Greeley, Co where David was employed with the city street department. On June 12, 1969 they were united in marriage. David and Jane enjoyed playing music together and over the years were apart of several bands most notably "Buck and the Broncos". While in Colorado they welcomed both their children, Nicole and Tony. They decided to move to Doran, MN to be closer to grandparents. Jane was employed with Robanks and later Four Seasons Greenhouse in Breckenridge, MN. Jane was also the bookkeeper for the city council in Doran. Jane enrolled at NDSCS in Wahpeton, ND and in 1985 received an associate degree in Business Management. During this time at college, Jane worked at the Wahpeton Daily News in the typesetting department. In 1987 they made Detroit Lakes their home. Jane worked for Hardees Restaurant and in 1993 started her own business, Rapid Refrigeration and Appliance Parts. In her spare time, Jane enjoyed the outdoors. Her interests included cooking, gardening, bowling, fishing and camping. She was also very fond of her pets. Jane will be remembered for her honesty, patience and understanding, tenacity and wonderful sense of humor. She was a devoted wife and mother, always making her family her first priority. Jane is survived by her children: Nicole Piechowski of Detroit Lakes, Tony Piechowski of Detroit Lakes. She is preceded in death by her parents, Rose and Roy Braaten, husband David (2014)and brother Richard Braaten.
