Jeffrey Aarness

June 15, 1962 — July 1, 2013

Jeffrey Scott Aarness, 51, Hastings, MN, died in his home of natural causes.

Jeff was born on June 15, 1962, and grew up in Barnesville, MN. He attended and graduated from the Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf in 1981. While there he was an outstanding athlete and was voted homecoming king his senior year. Following his graduation, he worked by his father's side for many years for Haugen Masonary and had a hand in building many familiar structures in the Fargo-Moorhead area, including the FargoDome and the Concordia bell tower. After leaving Haugen Masonary, he had his most rewarding "job" – being a stay at home dad and raising his two precious children. Most recently he worked as a head custodian at Inver Grove

Community College in Inver Grove Heights, MN. Jeff was a loving father, son and brother. He was funny, kind, generous and was the type of man who would give you the shirt off his back. He will be deeply missed. He is survived by his children Kate and Daniel Aarness, Barnesville, MN; his parents Verlin and Carol Aarness, Vergas, MN; his sister Kathy (Kurt) Keena, Hastings, MN; his brothers Eric (Brenda) Aarness, Stillwater, MN and Philip (Anne) Aarness, St. Paul, MN; his nieces and nephews, Liz Keena, Tayler Aarness, Ashlyn Aarness, Dylan Aarness and Mason Aarness; and many aunts, uncles, cousins.
