Jerrilyn Kaye Baker, 71, Vergas, MN, died Friday, June 12, 2015 at Essentia Health-St. Mary's in Detroit Lakes surrounded by family and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, June 18 at 11AM in Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Detroit Lakes. Officiating will be Monsignor Timothy McGee. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 17 at David Donehower Funeral Home from 5PM – 7PM with a Prayer Service at 7PM. Visitation will also continue one hour prior to Mass on Thursday. Jerrilyn Kaye Sundby, known to many as "Jerri" was born December 3, 1943 in Moorhead, MN to Howard and Lorraine (Forsgren) Sundby. Jerri was the oldest of seven children. She grew up near rural Pelican Rapids and attended school at Pelican Rapids until her sophomore year, when she moved to Moorhead and graduated from Moorhead High School in 1961. Jerri was united in marriage to Ron Baker on December 16, 1961 in Moorhead at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. They lived briefly in Medical Lake WA, while Ron was in the army and welcomed their first two children, Colleen and Paul. They moved back to Moorhead where they welcomed two more children, Dan and Renee and resided in Moorhead until 1992. That same year they moved to their lake home on Leek Lake near Vergas where they have resided since. Jerri was a full time mother/homemaker for many years until she started working at the Fargo Public Library driving the book mobile. After moving to the lake, she started working at the Pelican Rapids Library until she retired. Jerri was an active member of St. Francis de Sales Church School, Shanley High School and Holy Rosary Catholic Church. For many years Jerri and Ron were members of the pre-marriage weekend team at Holy Rosary Parish and also been involved with Engage and Marriage Encounter. Jerri was especially proud of being a Camp Fire Leader, a multi-gallon blood donor, volunteer for Hospice of the Red River Valley and "baby-bundle" lady for Pelican Rapids Library. She was a life long advocate for the environment, she loved the lake, watching the loons and hummingbirds and spending time relaxing in her hammock. Jerri was a people person and loved family gatherings, card club with special friends, her meetings with the ladies of the "church of the wide-open porch" and celebrating any occasion. She adored her ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild and was always their number one fan at activities. Jerri will be remembered and deeply missed by her husband of 53 years, Ron of Vergas, their four children: Colleen Frost of Moorhead, Paul (Michelle) Baker of Moorhead, Dan (Steph) Baker of Rose Lake, MN and Renee (Tim) Erickson of Fergus Falls, ten grandchildren: Tony, Patrick, Brendan and Callie Frost. Aly and Dylan Erickson, Ryan and Adam Baker, Katy and Nick Baker and great-granddaughter: Logan. In addition she is survived by her siblings: Lona (Charlie) Jose of Delano, MN, Bonnie (Roger) Kuznia of Cannon Falls, MN, Vicki (Tim) Langeberg of Glyndon, MN, Cindy Sundby of Fergus Falls, Tom Sundby of Moorhead and Tim (Kathy) Sundby of Elizabeth, MN along with many nieces, nephews cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and grandparents. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley, Friends of the Pelican Library and Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
