Jerry L. Walden, 61, resident of Detroit Lakes, MN, died Monday, October 14 at his residence under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Memorial services will be held Sunday, October 20 at 1PM in the Eagles Club Aerie 2342, Detroit Lakes. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services.
Jerry Lynn Walden was born February 26, 1952 in Fargo, ND to John E. and Jeannine H. (Martin) Walden. He was raised and educated in Dilworth, MN, graduating from Dilworth Public High School in 1970. During his high school years, Jerry excelled in wrestling and was proud to be the captain of the team during his senior season.After high school, he worked various jobs before moving to Las Vegas. While in Las Vegas, Jerry worked as a bartender, roofer, security guard and bookie for several years. He moved to Detroit Lakes to manage the Super Lube and later Conoco Station. Jerry became involved with the Eagles Club in Detroit Lakes. He made countless friends over the years working as a bartender and was instrumental in the Eagles sock fundraiser. He twice served as the Eagles club president in 2011 and 2012, a role he took great pride in. Jerry loved playing poker, shooting pool and shopping. He enjoyed cooking, especially steak and shrimp. During the summer Jerry enjoyed spending time with friends around a bonfire and in the fall loved his NFL Sundays. He is survived by his special friend: Amber Stallman; three brothers: Bud Walden of Fargo, ND, John Walden of Las Vegas, NV and Randy Walden of Chino Hills, CA. He is also survived by six nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
