Jim Beckner

Jim Beckner, 79, Frazee, MN, died Tuesday, July 17 at his residence surrounded by his family and under care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

Memorial Services for Jim will be held Saturday, July 21 at 11AM in the David Donehower Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes.  A gathering of family and friends will be held one hour prior to service.

Jim was born February 15, 1939 in Billings, OK to Clyde and Magdelina (Schultz) Beckner.   He was part of a big family of nine children.    Around age 12, Jim accepted Jesus as his Savior after attending a meeting at the Assembly of God Church.   In 1962, Jim was drafted into the United States Army.  He proudly served his country for two years.   After his honorable discharge, he worked as an electrician where he designed controls for the Cargill Company.    He married Gayle Nunamaker in June of 1969.  Jim and Gayle welcomed a son, Zakery in 1978.  Jim and his family moved to Minnesota in 1979.  Wanting to be home with his family more, Jim started his own electrical business, Beckner Electric.   Jim loved being in the mountains and wide-open places.   He loved the mountains in Colorado and Montana, but also enjoyed living in the lakes area.  He cherished every opportunity that allowed him to hunt or fish.   Jim was a man of Faith and being outdoors made him feel close to God.  He enjoyed fish fry’s, planning activities for young people and golfing.   Jim was always someone you could count on to get the job done. He would always make life easier for everyone.   He was naturally quiet but was not afraid to let you know if you were getting too far out of line.   Jim loved spending time with his two grandchildren.  One of his proudest moments was being the Best Man at his son Zak’s wedding.   Jim was a member of Grace Fellowship Church and will be remembered and missed by his family and friends.
