Joan Eileen Borgen, a devoted Occupational Therapist, has peacefully passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2024 in Detroit Lakes, MN.
She was born on August 30, 1953, in Prairie Du Chien, WI, the daughter of George and Anna (Casey) Hartman. Joan's passion for helping others shone brightly throughout her career as she served with dedication in the Winona Public Schools and the LaCrosse School District.
An alumnus of St. Victor's High School in Monroe, WI, Joan pursued her higher education at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, where she obtained her B.S. Degree in 1971. Later, she continued her academic journey and earned her M.S. Degree from the University of Wisconsin in LaCrosse in 1984. Joan met the love of her life, Kent Borgen and they were married on June 1, 1982.
Beyond her professional achievements, Joan was known for her love of cats. Her compassionate nature extended not only to humans, but also to our feline friends. In her leisure time, she found solace and joy in rug hooking, showcasing her creativity and attention to detail.
Joan's warm personality and unwavering commitment to making a difference did not go unnoticed by those around her. Her kindness touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
She is survived by her loving husband, Kent, sisters; Veronica Johnson of Lincoln, NE and Doris Stenger of Wilmington, NC, and brother, James Hartman of Fort Collins, CO.
Joan is preceded in death by her parents and sister, Lorraine Hartman.
